Here we are just about a week past my due date and no baby yet! Thought for sure that I would have had the baby by now. I don't mind the extra waiting but it sure would be nice for my body to kick in and start labor without the help of pitocin. I am just going to trust my Doctor and go with his suggestions. Monday morning at 8:00am we will go in the begin our induction. It could take a while and I will probably go home for a bit, but I am thinking by Tuesday we should have our baby in our arms!
There have been many requests of this baby in the last month. Mike requested that baby wait to come out until the Bruins won the Stanley Cup. CHECK. Then Reese got Pneumonia, so we thought it would be nice for baby to wait until she got better to come out. CHECK. My mom's work partner had heart surgery last week so she would not have been able to help us with Reese while we were in the hospital, so she asked baby to wait a little longer. CHECK. Then my SIL who is also going to help with Reese told us she might not be able to take time off of work because Whitey Bulger was coming back to town and she had to be there for his court date, so we thought it would be nice for baby to wait until that was over. CHECK. My only request was that I get to go out to dinner with Daddy one more time just the two of us...and we actually accomplished that last night. CHECK. So now baby can officially come out. We have such a cooperative baby! Already trying to please family members and their demanding requests. ;-)
I have been spending TONS of quality time with Reese this last week. Of course the last 3.5 years have been just mom and Reese spending quality time together during the day, but this last week has been very special for us. It rained most of the week so we just enjoyed the quiet time that we had together. I keep thinking of how much I am going to miss my alone time with her. I know we will all adjust but this is a hard one for me. It will change forever. I also get excited thinking about the things we will do as a family when the baby is here.
Reese is mostly excited. She asks me a lot about her friends who have babies at home. We talk about what the baby might look like, names, what we will do when the baby cries, how much the baby will eat, what the baby will wear, etc. She plays mommy with her babies and uses all of the baby gear we have around the house. She is very nurturing...I love watching her.
So by the next time I post...baby will be here! Praying for a smooth labor and of course that baby and Mommy are strong and healthy throughout the big event!
